호주 Base Rate, Penalty Rate, Overtime 완벽 정리

급여는 단순 시급이 아니다
호주에서 급여(Wages)는 단순히
“시급 × 근무시간”으로 계산되지 않는다.
언제, 얼마나, 어떤 조건으로 일했는지에 따라
급여가 크게 달라진다.
이 구조를 이해하지 못하면
페이롤 실무도, 면접도 어렵다.

1️⃣ Base Rate (기본 시급)

Base rate는 평일, 일반 근무 시간에 적용되는 기본 시급이다.
모든 급여 계산의 출발점이 된다.

이 금액은
• Award
• Enterprise Agreement
• 또는 계약서

에 따라 정해진다.

예를 들어,
기본 시급이 $25라면 평일 낮 근무는 보통 이 금액 그대로 지급된다.

The base rate is the normal hourly rate paid for ordinary hours, usually on weekdays.
It is the starting point for all wage calculations.

The base rate is set by:
• an Award
• an Enterprise Agreement
• or an employment contract

For example, if the base rate is $25 per hour, weekday daytime work is usually paid at this rate.

2️⃣ Penalty Rate (가산 시급)

Penalty rate는 주말, 야간, 공휴일처럼 불편한 시간에 일한 것에 대한 보상이다.
보통 기본 시급에 배수(multiplier)를 곱해 계산한다.

예시 (Award에 따라 다름):
• 토요일 근무: 기본 시급 × 1.25
• 일요일 근무: 기본 시급 × 1.5
• 공휴일 근무: 기본 시급 × 2.25

👉 업종별 Award마다 비율이 다르기 때문에
반드시 Award를 확인해야 한다.


A penalty rate is extra pay for working at inconvenient times, such as weekends, nights, or public holidays.
It is usually calculated by multiplying the base rate.

Examples (depending on the Award):
• Saturday work: base rate × 1.25
• Sunday work: base rate × 1.5
• Public holiday: base rate × 2.25

3️⃣ Overtime (초과 근무 수당)

Overtime은 정해진 일일 또는 주간 근무 시간을 초과해서 일했을 때 적용된다.

일반적인 구조:
• 처음 몇 시간: 기본 시급 × 1.5
• 그 이후 시간: 기본 시급 × 2.0

예:
하루 8시간이 기준인 직원이
10시간 근무했다면
초과된 2시간은 Overtime으로 계산된다.

Overtime applies when an employee works beyond their standard daily or weekly hours.

A common structure is:
• First few overtime hours: base rate × 1.5
• Additional hours: base rate × 2.0

For example, if the standard day is 8 hours and an employee works 10 hours, the extra 2 hours are paid as overtime.

“무조건 Award 기준부터 확인한다.”

• 건설
• 병원
• 유통

업종에 따라 배수와 조건이 다르다.
